I find it ironic as I share about myself. I have spent the last several years of my career working for an agency where I have supported individuals in reflecting on the very topic of; Who am I? Often times, individuals found themselves lost or confused by life changing events. Embracing who we are takes courage. Here is a piece of me, and the views I have in the field of counseling.

I have a great level of passion for the work I do. I consider it an honor to be a part of someone's life story. I am someone who is very consistent in my work. I will treat you with the self-worth and the respect you deserve. I work to create a safe, trusted, and non-judgmental atmosphere which I believe will support you in your process.
I favor the long term therapy approach as you get to uncover and peel back the layers of what makes us who we are. However, I respect and value the short-term therapy process; a place where you may need some immediate support and a place to piece some life changing events together. We are each unique individuals, and I will work to meet you where you are and what you need. I will often give you control of the session while I listen, work to understand, and offer guidance, through asking questions and reflection.
I have a profound respect for the pathology and pharmacology of the mental health field. I believe pathology offers a tremendous amount of education, guidance and awareness in helping us understand our characteristics and symptoms. Pharmacology also has its respected place. It can definitely help us balance our internal make-up from our genetics to our ever changing life experiences. However, if you are looking for a diagnosis, it will not be my primary focus of treatment. I believe there have been a number of cases of misdiagnosis, whether under diagnosis or over diagnosed. I will acknowledge the symptoms, but my work will be focused on the core impacts, providing education, and an understanding to the symptoms; not just labeling them.
